Rated 5 out of 5 by from Preferable to air conditioning I ordered 2 of these so I could keep my apartment cool during the summer without having to use the air conditioner. I keep one in a living room window and the other in a back bedroom. They're a little noisy but the AC is even louder so that's not really a complaint. I'm glad to have the breeze they provide and enjoy being able to keep my windows open for fresh air.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Exhausts hot air in just a few short hours... We recently purchased two of these on Amazon and put one at one end of our house blowing and one at the opposite end of the house exhausting. The rest of the windows are cracked open about 3/4". Depending on the outside temperature at night, the inside temperature drops 5 to 10 degrees, along with a cooling breese, throughout the house. While the reversable feature is manual and there is not a remote control along with no thermostat, the low price trumps those uneeded features.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Disappointed I bought one of these and loved it and then quickly bought another. Loved the features and the strong air flow. The newest one stopped working about 2 weeks after I bought it. The first one I bought just stopped tonight. Its been maybe a little over a month since both purchases. We are in an RV with no AC and it's necessary we have air flow. Now we have two broken fans. I purchased from Holmes because of their great products, never again.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Terrible I brought this fan because I had an old one at home that similar to this once but after one month it litearally died :| I tried to see if there is any wire burn but every thing looked fine to me but the fan did not turn on. And this happened to both of the fan the I purchase. I was extemely dissappointed because i already threw away the box as well as the receipt.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Horrible Have two of these. On one of them the blade moves on the shaft and rubs against the outside housing. On both, the bad design actually causes air to go in the opposite direction. Eg, if the fan is being used to blow out/exhaust, the air from the fan hits the casing, electronic components, motor etc and actually pushes are back in. The hawf2043 is so much better.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Bought 2 I originally bought one when the AC went out. Used it for the last months of last summer and it helped a lot. I just bought another last week so I could create crossflow and with 90 degrees and up days, it's been wonderful! Bill has gone down without using the AC, since the landlord won't replace it. Fits perfect in the windows. Great value.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Terrific little fan, just with a short lifespan I love this's the next best thing to an air conditioner for cooling a room down. However, I've gone through four (yes, four) of them in the last year and a half, because one or the other fan mechanisms inevitably breaks. They're cheap to replace, I guess, but I shudder at the amount of tech-trash it generates....

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Disappointed!! First it took a couple of weeks to receive this fan. Then the high speed on both the exhaust and intake didn't work. The low-speed doesn't move much air. It is poorly made and doesn't fit well in the window. I tried to contact the company by phone and by email and received no response. Don't waste your money!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Just what I needed. Perfect I use this fan summer and winter when I bake polymer clay. Burning clay is toxic so I always vent when I cook the clay. This is a perfect fan for what I need and fits in the window just right and pulls out easily when I am finished. The price was great and the shipping was free. Cant beat it. Thanks Holmes!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best product around ! Last year I bought 3 Holmes Reversible window fans because for years I've always felt that it's the best product around. I recommended the product to a friend that moved into a new apartment. he said he would buy it, but I surprised him with 2 so when the warm weather comes in he'll already have them.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Works great I bought this over a year ago and it was working fantastically, and then the fuse that's in the plug went out and the fan stopped working. I can't get it out to take somewhere to get a replacement, also don't know where to go to get a replacement. This website says nothing about the fuses anywhere.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Love the fan but can’t clean it I have used the fan for two summer. It works great. But this summer was brutal. The fan needs to be taken a part and cleaned but you cannot. The clips need to be taken off but you can’t so I guess I’ll have to break them off to clean. maybe I’ll get one more summer Before it needs to be thrown out

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great for Inducing a Draft! I own two of these, the first one I bought as an exhaust fan when I had a house gutted and was painting the whole thing with a sprayer. I Put the fan in the window of the main room of the house pushing air out. Then the room I worked in I would open one window. Worked well. I still use that fan 6 years later, it has gotten a bit noisy, but it has been used and abused. I bought a second one for my new home that is a 2 story. Cool spring and fall days / nights I put one in each bedroom up stairs pushing air out. Then I open some windows downstairs. This pulls cool air into the first floor and pushes the hot air up stair out. By the time we go to bed the whole house is cool. I can't sleep if the bedroom is over 70 degrees. These fans have definitely paid for themselves since I don't have run the a/c just to get to sleep. One thing to note, the last fan I ordered had a small piece broken when it arrived. This doesn't affect the way it operates, so I didn't bother with returning it, it works fine.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works great I don't have a real kitchen vent over the stove so I use it in my kitchen window over the sink to help vent the kitchen when I'm cooking....wonderful.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Ideal product with this fan I am able to completely move fresh air in when its cool out side or exhaust hot stale air out so I get full air changes constantly. It is also very quiet for the amount of air it moves. Great product wish I bought one years ago.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from fan quit working after 10 weeks I was happy with this fan initially. It is relatively quiet, blows lots of air, and was easy to set up. However, one of the fans stopped working after only 10 weeks of use of maybe 1.5 hours a day. Sending it back for repair.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome fan! I bought 2 of these fans and they were amazingly well! But one of the fans blew a fuse and in the instructions it said to come to this website but I can not find the replacement fuses to buy. Can you help me please?

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works exactly as advertised! Bought this for our camper but have mainly used it in the house to bring in fresh air. Great addition since we do not have to run the air as much which helps to keep our electric bill down. Shipping was quick too!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Gap left in window Maybe I'm using it wrong? I just put it in the window the way it came packaged. But above the little extender there is about a 1/4" gap because of how the window sits on top of the fan. Poor design.
