Types of Filters True HEPA filtration removes up to 99.97% of airborne allergens as small as 0.3 microns from air passing through the filter, including pollen, dust, dust mite debris, mold spores, pet dander and smoke. True HEPA is the best choice for people with respiratory problems. HEPA-Type filtration removes up to 99% of airborne pollutants as small as 2 microns including smoke, dust, pollen and pet dander, from air passing through the filter, resulting in cleaner, fresher air. Permanent HEPA-Type filters offer up to 99% filtration of airborne pollutants as small as 2 microns, such as pollen, dust and pet dander, from air passing through the filter. With regular care, these filters are designed to never need replacing and are great for improving overall air quality. Not recommended for removing smoke odors, as filter fibers will retain and disperse odors. Units with replaceable filters are best for removing odors. Carbon Filters are treated with activated charcoal and often enhanced with Arm & Hammer® baking soda to effectively remove unpleasant household odors generated by pets, mildew, cooking, construction materials and more. Ionizer: The Ionizer setting releases negatively charged ions into the air, which join with small positively-charged particles such as dust and pollen to form larger particles that are more easily trapped by the unit’s main filter.
